About Teen Pregnancy
Teen Pregnancy is an issue of paramount importance to both individual families and our society as a whole. Babies of pregnant teens are more likely to be born prematurely, with a low birth weight, than babies born to adult women. These babies also have a higher infant mortality rate.
Teen mothers also are more likely to drop out of school resulting in a life of poverty for the single mother and her child. Related issues include at predispostion toward repeat teen pregnancy, abuse and neglect of the child, as well as an enormous cost to society.
